Swim Marshals for the Giant Acorn Triathlon

Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
Location: Lake Anna State Park (tell the Ranger you’re a Swim Marshal — admission is free)
Partner: Kinetic Multisports

LACA is once again partnering with Kinetic Multisports to provide Swim Marshals for the Giant Acorn Triathlon at Lake Anna. This is a fun, rewarding way to support athletes, show LACA’s community spirit, and raise funds to help protect our lake.

We’ve committed to providing at least 10 volunteers. Swim Marshals are stationed on the water in kayaks (or on jet skis) along the swim course to support athlete safety. Marshals may offer a rest platform or assist a swimmer back to shore if they cannot complete the swim. County EMS and certified lifeguards will be on-site for medical emergencies.

In appreciation for our service, Kinetic makes a generous donation to LACA—a win for volunteers, athletes, and our mission. Free food is provided to volunteers.

Event Day Schedule

• 7:30 AM – Arrive at the boat ramp with kayak, paddle, life jacket, and water bottle

• 7:45 AM – Pre-race instructions

• 8:00 AM – On the water for the swim start

• ~9:15 AM – Return to boat ramp, load up kayaks, and enjoy the food truck

Parking: Near the boat ramp (look for Swim Marshal parking)

Registration (LACA sign-up required)

1. Register on the LACA site so we can coordinate volunteers and share any updates. (You may register more than one person in a single entry.)

What to Bring

• Kayak (or jet ski, if serving in that role)

• Paddle

• U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket (PFD)

• Water bottle / hydration

• Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
