New Happenings Around the Lake:

  • Anna Point Marina planning to add several "For Rent" docks to the marina, increasing their boat dockage capabilities as depicted in one of the images above.  Working to get the plans and understand the extent of the additions.
  • Another Storage Facility appears to be heading our way.  Louisa County Community Development Department and Lake Anna Storage, LLC, will host a Neighborhood Meeting on March 16 at 4:00 pm in the Public Meeting Room, Louisa County Office Building, 1 Woolfolk Ave., Louisa, 4 pm.  The discussion will center around a request to rezone, from Agricultural (A-2 GAOD) to General Commercial ( C-2 GAOD), 7.7 acres on Chopping Road (tmp 28-106) for multiple uses including, but not limited to, mini warehouse (storage), equipment sales and rental, and automotive repair service. The property is located just southwest of Wares Crossroads in the Lake Anna Growth Area Overlay District. (land use application)

The Land Use Committee, chaired by John Wayne, serves as LACA’s primary contact for land use issues on or near Lake Anna working in an advocacy capacity with developers, citizens, and local government entities to ensure land is used or developed in such a manner to preserve the safety, cleanliness, and enjoyment of Lake Anna and its surrounding area.

The committee maintains contact with Louisa, Spotsylvania and Orange county officials, other governmental units and the business community to stay abreast of possible developmental and land use issues.   They work with planning officials and developers as soon as plans are conceived in order to review primary issues of lake safety, shoreline stability and structures, water and septic/sewer facilities, open space and storm water management.

The committee also handles other tasks such as attending various government meetings, working on other committees impacting Lake Anna, such as the counties’ comprehensive plans, Lake Anna growth area plans, regulation development and other activities.
