HOW TO GET FEMA TO HELP: If you have earthquake damage of any
kind or suspect damage to chimneys or other structures, you should
register with FEMA (Click
here for the pdf file on how to register). Registration will
result in a free inspection of your damaged area and a determination
of what if any assistance you are entitled to from FEMA. Louisa
FEMA office is open 10 am until 6pm, Thursday, January 5 and will
stay open then all days except Sunday until further notice. Louisa
phone and online registration is available until January 5th,
2012.

LACA WINS AWARD: Doug
Smith, President of LACA, reports that on October 13 LACA
representatives accepted an award for Outstanding
Community Service. The award ceremony was hosted by the Lake
Anna Guide and included several awards including
Business Person of the Year awarded to Jeff
Heidig at the Lake Anna Winery. Doug
Smith, in accepting the award for LACA said
he accepted the award for the over 80 active volunteers that make
the many LACA programs possible. The event was the first annual
“best of Lake Anna” awards celebration with all proceeds
going to the special needs of the Thomas Jefferson Elementary
School which is operating out of 40 trailers on the old soccer
field at Trevillions Elementary school after having to abandon
their existing building due to earthquake damage.
